Sendmail service
hi,
I have edited the /etc/mail/aliases file and added the new mail id in this but i am not getting any mails do i need to restart any service after adding the aliases.

After editing aliases file just type: newaliases.
This will build a new copy of alias database.

You shouldn't have to restart the service.
But it doesn't hurt. I've seldom had to restart before after adding an alias. But most of the time I don't.
/sbin/init.d/sendmail restart
or
/sbin/init.d/sendmail stop ; /sbin/init.d/sendmail start
