Re: sendmail Transient parse error

What if you look up the MX records for reduno.com, can you get those? If so, try sending the email to the ip address, i.e.

sendmail user@[0.0.0.0] < /tmp/file ..........

What happens then? I would suspect that since your message said your nameservers timed out either you can not resolve the mailer for that domain, or their is some network/dns problem that does not provide you with information outside what is on your hosts file....

More info would be helpful, why don't you post a verbose output from a sendmail attempt.

I don't have access to that information.
Do you know if there is any way to check on which network is the problem that you mentioned?

Re: sendmail Transient parse error

Look for a website called Woodys Online Network Tools, then go to the online dig link, first look for DNS records for reduno.com, then query the returned nameserver for a mx record for that domain. I would do it for you if I could, but I am at a remote site right now and hp.com is one of the few sites let out from the proxy server.

Let me know,

Re: sendmail Transient parse error

If I read your posts correctly, you are using a private network and you can't sendmail to a public network, the issue is complicated now. What does your /etc/resolv.conf file and /etc/nsswitch.conf file look like? Can you sendmail to other public networks, or is this the only one? I'll try to monitor this post as much as I can today, don't have a whole lot of keyboard time today,

Re: sendmail Transient parse error

C.
Yes, I'm using a private network, but the funny think is that it is the only server who rejects my e-mails until now.
some one told me that it's because this server is under solaris, but I'm not shure if that's the problem.

/etc/resolve.conf
nameserver 10.2.1.2
nameserver 198.100.183.178
nameserver 10.2.1.10

/etc/nsswitch.conf

passwd: files nisplus
shadow: files nisplus
group: files nisplus
hosts: files nisplus dns
ethers: files
netmasks: files
networks: files
protocols: files nisplus
rpc: files
services: files nisplus

netgroup: files nisplus

publickey: nisplus

automount: files nisplus
aliases: files nisplus

Those this information helps you to help me???

Re: sendmail Transient parse error

Hi there.
I had same problem with you, but its now solve with these solutions:

Try to edit your file: /etc/nsswitch.conf
(before that make a backup of your file).

Edit /etc/nsswitch.conf, edit/add these statements:

protocols: nis [NOTFOUND=return UNAVAIL=continue] files

hosts: files

after that stop your sendmail server, restart it again.
and try.

hope this work
