Hi Forum,

In the mail log the following message is comming since Dec, any idea where can I start digging.

Feb 14 15:37:06 Servera sendmail[493]: gethostbyaddr(ip addres) failed: 1

How is your /etc/nsswitch.conf and /etc/resolv.conf setup? I would check those two files first to see if they are what you want and useful.

Hi,

Seems like a name resolution problem to me. Do a "nslookup" and make sure your ip address and system name is being resolved correctly.

nslookup
> Server_name
> Server_ip_add
> exit

Don't forget to check your /etc/hosts file and ensure the system's host name is associated to its IP. Other than that all suggestions given shoudl do the job.
