sequence of shutting down system external components

I believe this is the sequence I followed before when shutting down the system. Shut down the 1) SureStore E Disk Array 2)Power off Storage Enclosure 3) then execute shitdown command to the N-Class HP 9000 server.

Is this the right sequence? Also, with several servers and a couple of SureStore Disk Array, the wires are running under the floor and its hard to see which array goes wich server. Is there a command to execute on the HP server to get the Serial Number of the Array connected to the HP server (this helps not making mistake shutting down the wrong Array).
