How can i find the serial number of a disk non HP connected in FC directly in command line (without stm !).
When i use STM, i can find it, but i don't know the command used by stm.
In fact, i use a IBM ESS storage in SAN area connected to some HP-9000 L2000 server with hpux 11.00.
I must do a roll-out scsi (previous connection to my ESS) to fibre. for that, i must refind the right disk to reimport my VG's on the right vg.
The disk serial number is the links between them.
In advance, i thank you for your help.

Re: serial number disk non HP
Take a look to my response on:
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x026250011d20d6118ff40090279cd0f9,00.html
You can use also cstm ( command line stm). search for expamples...
The last, and worst, method is diskinfo -v

ANSI version: 3

Re: serial number disk non HP
i thank you for your answer, but if look well, diskinfo don't give back the serial number but just the Vendor et disk type, etc...
But not serial number (what's shame...).
Any ideas else ?
Charles.

Re: serial number disk non HP
Try this,
ioscan -fnkC disk |pg
Find the disk hardware address.
Then generate this report,
echo 'selclass type disk;info;wait;infolog' |cstm >/tmp/disk_info.txt
more /tmp/disk_info.txt
You should get the serial no of the disk from this file.
Hope this helps.
