Hi (again) Phil:

> What is swverify \*

The SD (Software Distributer) tool set includes 'swverify' along with 'swinstall', 'swcopy', 'swremove', etc.

'swverify' examines the IPD (Installed Product Database) of software products and patches installed with 'swinstall' and verifies permissions, file sizes, checksums, modification times, etc among other things.

I suggested its use for you to find (at 10.20) anything that might have had its permissions and/or ownerships mangled. The output will enable you to see that. Be advised that it will take a while to run.

Regards!

And unfortunately HP has released products that have swverify errors. Probably moreso on 10.20. So you need to look at the errors closely.

swverify -F will change things back to the original state.

Yes, I have seen 'swverify' errors in products delivered by HP (sadly), but as I recall, the '-F' switch is *not* an option in 10.20 so Phillip can use the output in an advisory capacity.
