Re: Server hung during reboot

Server hung during reboot

Hello,

My d350 server has hung during reboot "shutdown -r 0". It has been stuck on Unmount file systems for over an hour. Can I interrupt it?
Thanks for any help.

Re: Server hung during reboot

Hi

It looks as though you may have a problem with one of your disks as the umount can't contact a specific lvol

go to your console and have a look at the current processes, which lvol is it trying to unmount ?

Re: Server hung during reboot

Hi,
How is it now?
If you know which file system then u can do a fuser -k /mount point after interrupting it.
Did you take a backup?

Re: Server hung during reboot

I was rebooting remotely so I can't telnet to it now. I still have the reboot screen up which still stuck on "Unmount file systems".

Re: Server hung during reboot

Hi

Looks as though you will have to get someone to check the console out on the site. If there is an external array, ensure it's powered on.

What were the reasons for the reboot ? Errors in syslog before reboot ?

You could be brave and go for the power recycle if you don't have anyone on the site who will know what they are looking at.

The databases (if any) and applications are now shut down

Do you have ignites and full backups

If the root disk has a problem the server won't reboot

Can u ping it?
If you have soemone there at data centre ask him to do a ctrl-B then at cm> prompt type rs and enter.
CM>RS
Slightly better that power recycle.
Did you take a backup?

Hi,

Went for the power recycle - it's ok now. Thanks for the help everyone.
