Server Information Database
We are in the process of developing a Access database to house all of our server information such as:
hostname
ip
hardware info
apps
db's
support #'s
lease/own info
etc..
Before I get too far exposing my terrible Access skills, I thought I'd check the forum to see if anyone already has created such a thing.
Thanks again,
Greg

Re: Server Information Database
You can use a number of things.
Have a look in the two recent script postings:
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x836cc1c4ceddd61190050090279cd0f9,00.html
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x026250011d20d6118ff40090279cd0f9,00.html
We use a tool called 'SIR' from HP. As far as I know this tool is only available in Australia/New Zealand. It is a web based tool that collects information and creates a front end web page.

Re: Server Information Database
Hi Greg,
Everyday we find one or the other thing. Here is what I think
Host Name
Primary SA
Secondary SA
Model
Serial Numer
System Handle
Asset
OS
OS Patch
PDC level
Total RAM (Mb)
Processors
Address
Location
Tile
Environment
Business System
IP Address
Primary DNS Server
Secondary DNS server
Internal Disk & capacity
External Disk type & capacity
Role (Database|application)
Database Instance
Application Name
Some of them can be automated.
