Server not accessible from Windows PC but able to access through HP-UX

I am having HP-UX V11.00 64-bit K360 server. It is observed that sometimes network connectivity goes off in between and comes up later. At this instant I am able to access the server and use all the services from other HP server but when I try to access it from Win-95 PC, I am not able to access it. My ping request gets timed out due to which I am not able to do telnet to the server from PC.

Any solution for this problem ?

Is to PC on a different subnet from the UNIX boxes? Maybe there is a router problem.
Are you unable to ping the IP address from the PC or is there a name lookup problem?

Does this usually work? Is PCNFSD running?

Re: Server not accessible from Windows PC but able to access through HP-UX

Let me first thank you all for your replies to this question.I have 64-bit ver.11.00 Hp-servers K360. These are my application servers which are connected to a Main Database Server. The problem is when I ping one of the Appln server from the Win-95 PCs I get frequent request timed out messages whereas at the same time I am to able ping from other Servers to Appln. Server (in short Unix to Unix communication is Ok but Win-95 to Unix gets broken). My BaaN clients are loaded on Win-95 Pcs and Database is Informix. I have tried out the settings recommended by Berlene in one of my NT workstation and kept it in ping state. Still I get request timed out.
I have checked all my cables & 3-Com Switch settings and are Ok.
Please can anyone give any idea what exactly is happening.
Thanks in advance.

Check your network drivers and update them.
Do you have NetBEUI Protocol installed?
Chack your subnet masking, gateway and domain

Re: Server not accessible from Windows PC but able to access through HP-UX

The TCP-IP protocol, in windows, sometimes does not work correctly. I suggest you to uninstall this protocol, reboot the windows box and install the protocol again, and configure it.
Sometimes this works for me.

Re: Server not accessible from Windows PC but able to access through HP-UX

This almost sounds like there are two PCs with the same address. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

How do your IP Addresses get assigned? Have you considered a DHCP Server?

Linux is great for this application.

Hope this helps.
