4 lan devices listed in ioscan lan0 ,1, 2, 4.
lan4 is the card that I added.
lan2 isn't connected to a network, but lan0 and lan1 are.
I went into sam to configure the gig card (drivers, etc already loaded) but got an unsupported error. Not only that, SAM shows all of my network cards as unconfigured. ifconfig shows the same results! This machine has been in production and on the LAN for longer than I have worked at the company. I decided to figure out which lan was the one that was functioning. I unplugged one of the 2 cables and the server fell off the network. I plugged it back in and removed the other cable with the same result. How is the server on the network when ifconfig says there is no such interface? How come both cards appear to be needed for one IP? How do I get my gig card configured?

Re: server on network but no lans configured
If I am not wrong the only lan100 is working network(from netstat).
to see lanadmin for other NIC use ppa option. your ppa are
0, 1, 100 to 104 as from lanscan.
lanadmin -> lan -> ppa

Re: server on network but no lans configured
Just a thought: Check if you have these files in /dev:
/dev/lan
/dev/dlpi
The /dev/lan should be a symbolic link to /dev/dlpi file. If you miss the dlpi file, you can recreate it with:
# ln -s /dev/dlpi /dev/lan
Check the permissions of these files too.

SolutionYour lan0 is not up.
lan1 is up and appears to be functioning, as does lan100, all others appear to be "down".
Did you know you are running Auto-port-aggregation (APA)?

That software J4240AA is a license product. But HP will give you demo license as we have one.
