You might look at /etc/rc.log and /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log for anything unusual.

To set or check this, it is necessary to interrupt the boot process. Then enter "fb" from the prompt to check the current state of the flag.
If the time for hardware checks has not increased, then it is likely a delay in one or more of your startup scripts. The best way to find it is to actually watch the boot process on the console (or a remote console). See if any individual components are taking an unusually long time to start.

After vg00 disks are checked for clean status, the logical volumes will be mounted and the startup scripts will begin to run. That's where you may see major delays. Generally, network-based tools (like DPS and other DCE code) can really slow things down. Look at /etc/rc.log to see each each subsystem startup results.
