Re: Service Gaurd Document
The introduction chapter will contain the "brief explanation", and the next chapters will be in-depth instructions about planning, configuring, maintaining and updating your cluster.
Be advised that a cluster needs to be carefully designed to work even _when_ (not "if"!) something fails: if you set up a cluster blindly following some brief "cookbook" instructions, without understanding and planning for the requirements of your site and application, your cluster may actually reduce the total availability of your system instead of improving it.

Re: Service Gaurd Document
I like this manual.
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02056254/c02056254.pdf (BSC link updated by admin)
The important concept with SG is it creates high availability, not fault tolerance.
The goal is to eliminate as many single points of failure as possible.

Re: Service Gaurd Document
All Serviceguard-related documents can be found at this general website: http://docs.hp.com/en/ha.html
I recommend the "Managing Serviceguard" manual in the User Guide section, which is found when you click on the 'Serviceguard' link.

Re: Service Gaurd Document
All of the documents under docs.hp.com are being moved. The "easy to remember" link is:

Re: Service Gaurd Document
Just FYI that service guard is not a free software, you will have to buy it from HP.
You also need to have redundant hardware, at least 2 servers, and each server will have multiple NIC, connect to 2 switches.
read the manual then you will have a better idea.
thanks
