3) Can one node be upgraded and join in the existing cluster when done ? or what would be the proceudre like ?

Hi,
I will try to help you .
Your task is quite complicated and requires a good documentation & lots of studies.
There maybe downtime involved but always there are ways to minimize them.
I think the rolling upgrade is the best
option for you.
Refer the following document for some details of rolling upgrades.

First, in the interest of support, go to 11i

This will be a fairly major job - some of it depends on your applications. Oracle for instance will require a fresh install and relinking of Oracle Bianries.

Yes, you can use your map files.

How will the procedure look?

You will need to be at SG 11.12 or higher.

6 nodes - remove 1 from cluster, upgrade it, join it back into cluster - any apps you want running on it may not be able to failover to older nodes - until they are upgraded...

Do this fro other nodes, 1 at a time...

Re: Service Guard in 6 nodes upgrading from HP-UX10.2 to 11.00

Hi,

I agree with the suggestion to go for 11i. 11.0 will soon be discontinued.

You should be able to perform rolling upgrades. For procedure, consider the section "Rolling UPgrades" in the following document

http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/B3936-90079/B3936-90079.html

This is for ServiceGuard version 11.16, the latest.

While I have done upgrades from 10.20 -> 11.0, I find it much cleaner and easier to cold install the OS, and then configure your applications.

You can use existing map (if you are talking about volume group map files) to import the VGs on 11.0/11i.

Please Answer with logical answer as i have stated that it is HP-UX 11 not 11i.
My application runs on HP-UX11.

Re: Service Guard in 6 nodes upgrading from HP-UX10.2 to 11.00

Hi Tan,

The procedure is same for 11.0 or 11i. In fact in the above document, the example of a rolling upgrade involves upgrade to 11.0.

Yes, as Sridhar says - the procedure is the same for 11.0.
