Service Guard with EVA and CA

Hi All,

I would like to know the feasibility and the difference in configuration between a local cluser and the scenario of having 2 nodes and 2 EVAs in 2 different sites with CA using the usual Service Guard.

Thanks.

Re: Service Guard with EVA and CA

You can do this, where one EVA is at one site, and the second EVA at another site, but if you wish to use CA/EVA to do hardware data replication, you cannot use just Serviceguard. You will need to purchase and use the Metrocluster CA/EVA Toolkit.
Take a read of:

Re: Service Guard with EVA and CA

Your query looks like a metro cluster. You can configure a Metro cluster with one node at each site and CA between the sites and You should have a Quorum Server as well at Third site. metro Cluster would be an ideal soln for ur request.

Re: Service Guard with EVA and CA

You can probably pull it off yourself with creative scripting, a strong integration of your packages with SSSU and lots, lots of testing.

But if you can buy a Metrocluster, I strongly suggest you go with one. It will be tested, documented, and supported by HP. But review its compatibility matrix beforehand since it tends not to be always up to date with the latest EVA firmware. It is not supported with modular packages either, although I managed to make it work.
