Serviceguard APA mode

Hello,

HP-UX version 11.31(Itanium), Serviceguard version 11.19.

I need to configure APA(Auto Port Aggregation) for Serviceguard cluster.
Is there any recommendations considering APA mode - LAN_MONITOR vs LACP (network team assured that network devices will support both with no problem) ?

Hello @vilius_m,

For Serviceguard on HP-UX 11.31, LACP is generally preferred, if your switches fully support it and the network team is comfortable with the configuration.
However, LAN_MONITOR is still perfectly valid and may even be safer in certain cluster scenarios.

If your network team confirms full support:

Use LACP for external/public networks
Use LAN_MONITOR for cluster heartbeat networks

This gives the best reliability and matches typical HP-UX + Serviceguard deployments.
