serviceguard giving "Unable to connect to configuration database"

Am getting the error whiel running cmviewcl on my one of the cluster nodes.

# cmviewcl
Unable to open communications to configuration daemon: Permission denied
Unable to connect to configuration database.
Unable to open communications to configuration daemon: Permission denied
Unable to connect to configuration database.


Any ideas?

Yes, you probably do not have all IP addresses on all nodes resolve to or have an alias of the hostname. You may find more information in the syslog file about the particular address being complained about to confirm this.

Hi,

Can you please give more information about the OS and ServiceGuard version.

If it is a redhat or suse systems, There is a pre-requisite to install pidentd and make it start during boot.

The error is showing that pidentd is not installed in the system.

its HPUX-23PA .and service guard version is 11.18.

If this is a new cluster, insure /etc/cmcluster/cmclnodelist has been created on each node, and like .rhosts, lists both nodenames and authorizes root access. Example:
node1 root
node2 root
