Hi,
we have Serviceguard based on HPUX with Oracle 8i. We run into Problems when our Database switches from one Node to the other. This requires the Database to be re-started.
However the clients loose connection and do not re-connect. I have heard of Oracle TAF (Transparent Application Failover) and Failsafe.
Anybody who has a similar configuration ?
Any Product, Solution recommendations ?
Thanks

Re: Serviceguard Oracle 8i - Failsafe - Transparent Application Failover
Maybe upgrade Oracle to 10i and use RAC.

Solution
Pretty easy to setup and configure actually:
SID=
(description=
(failover=on)(load_balance=on)
(address=(protocol=tcp)(host=sgA)(port=1521))
(connect_data=
(service_name=SID.WORLD)
(failover_mode=
(type=select)
(method=basic)
(delay=5)
(retries=20)
)
)
)
Never actually tried it in a SG enviroment, but should work just about the same.
Thanks,
Brian
