Hi.
I've a 2 node cluster, hp-ux 11.11 and mc/sg 11.14 with a problem: cmviewcl give this output:
--
cmviewcl : Cannot view the cluster configuration. Either this node is not configured in a cluster, or else there is some obstacle to viewing the configuration. Check the syslog file for more information. For a list of possible causes, see the ServiceGuard manual for cmviewcl.
--
cmgetconf exits without output, and nothing about cmcld in syslog. packages works fine.
cpu are idle 50%, nodes pigs themselves.
in cmviewcl i found:
--
In some cases, the command may fail to view the cluster configuration.
Here are some possible causes:
- The node from which the command is issued is not configured in the
cluster.
- The binary cluster configuration file is missing or corrupt.
- cmclconfd is missing or is corrupt or is not configured properly in
the /etc/inetd.conf file.
- The security files .rhosts or cmclnodelist on this or other nodes do
not permit access by the node from which the command is issued.
--
deamons are ok, cmclnodelist is ok, binary exist.. I don't know how test his corruption.
any ideas????
thanks.

Solution
Ciao Stefano,
I faced this problem two times in last month:
- more SG commands with problems (cmviewcl failed with the same your error); the problem was something on boot failing about ndd parameters. So checks ndd parameters, in particular about udp protocol.
- cmviewcl and other few SG commands failing; the problem was solved killing cmclconfd daemons....please take attention about this last point....infact it is still mysterious to me the reason why that solved the problem. It was suggested to me but I should take attention to do that....just I report that like a my previous experience.
How about other SG commands?
You wrote about cmgetconf...and about cmscancl or cmviewconf?
Best regards,
Fabio

Re: serviceguard trouble.
thanks, but I found the problem:
in cmclnodelist there was an entry of an old node of the cluster, removing it everything goes ok.
bye
