seteuid

hi all,

for my internship i have to get SAMBA/CIFS running on a company network. problem is that i'm a complete newbie on HP-UX 11.00 (and everything unix) and SAMBA.

I've dowloaded SAMBA 2.0.7 from thewrittenword.com and did a ./configure. (first one that seemed to work)

all went well, then the following messages appeared:

warning: no automated network interface determination
error: no seteuid avialable
configure: error: summary failure. aborting config.

could anyone please explain me what is going on? i'm really interested in all this stuff, but for a beginner it's really hard to find some usefull docs.

thanks

Re: seteuid

Your error looks to be caused by not having a full HP ANSI C compiler or GNU C Compiler installed. Do you have one of these full compilers installed ? you will need one to compile Samba. The basic HP C compiler is not enough.
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...

Re: seteuid

Why not get CIFS/9000 Server (and/or client) from http://www.software.hp.com
It is based on SAMBA 2.0.6 and you do not have to compile it, just use swinstall.

Re: seteuid

You can also get the binarie packages from www.samba.org. Choose a downloadlocation near you and select the directory bin-pkg/.

There you will find binaries for HP-UX 10.20 and 11.0.

These distribution is version 2.0.7 which is a little bit more actual than the CIFS distribution from HP.
