Seting up a HP Laserjet 1022n with HP-Ux 11.00
I need to install a hp laserjet printer 1022n with jetdirect, but I have a little problem.
When I conect the network cable into the printer, a new IP address is associated with it (I use DHCP on a Windows network).
Then, when I ping this address from hpux, there are responses, but if I try to install the printer in HPPI (Version E.10.34), when I put the Ip adress, I receive a message: "!! No response from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx !!" "... (trying to ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx)".
Then, I 'pinged' this address, and there are response.
What I can do for this?!
Thanks All.

Make sure there is no equipment between the two boxes that prevents communication on the printer port. Also, see if ipfilter is running on the box, if so, shut it down and try again.
If ipfilter is the problem then change its configuration to allow the default printer port.

Re: Seting up a HP Laserjet 1022n with HP-Ux 11.00
I checked the network configuration, and the address are Ok.
When you sad 'ipfiler running on the box' I didn't understand.
What you want to say with box/boxes?? There are switches between the printer and the hpux server.
And what is ipfilter?
I'm sorry if my question is too basic, but I didn't understand your explanation.
Tks

Re: Seting up a HP Laserjet 1022n with HP-Ux 11.00
The HP JetDirect Printer Installer for Unix can ping the device.
The problem may be:
* incorrect GET community name!
* it is not a network printer!
* other.
When you try to add printer, JetDirect tries to talk to printer using SNMP. That is failing for some reason, that's why you get the error.
You are still given choice to continue, so you can add the printer queue.
Try the following command to print
# /opt/hpnpl/bin/hpnpf -x
