Setting up FTP Server in HP UX 11.11

Hi Gentlemen,

I would like to allocate FTP access to my HP UX 11.11 server. My specification is as follows.

1. UserA will access the server from site1 and keep the files in the ftp folder.

2. UserB will access the same server from siteB and keep the files in the same ftp folder.

3. UserA and UserB should be able to create files in the folder.UserB cannot modify the files of UserA, but viceversa should be possible ( UserA should be able to modify UserB's files).

Please help me to setup the same.

Manoj,

Open ftpd for tcp and udp services in /etc/services and configure in /etc/inetd.conf files. Restart inetd daemon.
setup ftp directory on the server and make sticky bit to the directory level so that they won't able to delete other user files.

chmod +s

PS : even the document for 10.20, it should be realible also for 11.11

Shalom Manoj,

If these two servers use nfs shared storage for disk you are done after the document.

If not, you may wish to install rsync in order to keep the files current between the two servers.
