setup New HP-UX rp5470 Server
We bought a new HP-UX rp5470 Server (OS 11i pre-loaded). Can anybody give configuration steps in sequence with step by step info on what to configure and brief detail on which files to look/change.

Re: setup New HP-UX rp5470 Server
Install the 11i Bundle
run set_parms to set up the networking on the machine according to your guidelines.
Take a look at swlist -l product and see what apps and utilities need to be installed.
Where you go next is dependent on what you want your server to do.

Re: setup New HP-UX rp5470 Server
1. Reinstall the OS 11i with specific VG0 ( / ,opt, /usr, /var etc..with SWAP and network configuration.
2. Apply all recommended patches.
3. Configure all other VG's and filesystems according to your needs.
4. Cut a fresh ignite tape.
5. Configure system for regular backups.

Re: setup New HP-UX rp5470 Server
If you have MirrorUX installed, "# swlist | grep -i Mirror", I would create a mirrored boot disk.
Install the latest patches.
Run "ioscan -fn" to be sure that all hardware is connected properly.
You can use SAM to create VG's, lvols and file systems. Also to add drivers or change kernel tunable parameters, depending on the purpose of your new server.
Kind regards,
Zigor

Re: setup New HP-UX rp5470 Server
I would do the followings
1.Configure the GSP lan
2. boot the server and configure network connection and other configuration.
3. Take a make_tape_recovery
4. Then recover from tape to size different mountpoint at your desired size.
