sftp performance anomaly

Greetings. I have sftp set up between RP5450 and DL380. I also have sftp set up between RP5470 and DL380. Both RPs running HP-UX 11.11 + F-Secure SSH 3.3.0 and DL380 running Win2003 Server Std Ed + F-Secure SSH 6.1.12.1. Both RPs can sftp to DL380 and cd to target directory. Here's the problem: RP5470 sftp "ls" or "get" takes many minutes to complete. RP5450 sftp "ls" or "get" is near instantaneous. This seems to indicate that the RP5470 has some kind of problem, but what?

Re: sftp performance anomaly

While it is possible that you have very different encipherment settings on the two boxes (check sshd_config and ssh_config anf compare on the two boxes), it is far more probable that you have mismatched duplex settings on the rp5470 and its corresponding switch port. Surprisingly, a mismatched duplex setting will almost work well and would problem not be noticeable in a telnet/rlogin/ssh session, for example, but will perform terribly under a high packet-rate application like ftp/sftp/rcp.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Bingo! Network port set at auto/HD. Thank you Clay!
