SG, SGeRAC and Oracle 10g2 RAC, lan configuration question!!
Right now I have a configure installed the Oracle 10g2 RAC, SG, SGeRAC and created the SG Cluster, CFS Package, OCR Package and all Instance Package.
The OCR are configure the IP to VIP on lan0, but when I unpluged the lan 0, the IP that is configured on that card is moving for SG to the card StandBy, but the IP to VIP that was configured on that card by the OCR, is not move to the stand by.
Now my question is, on a SG, SGeRAC and Oracle RAC enviroment, this behaivor is normal?..or the Oracle VIP has to be move to the stand by when the lan card is going out???
Thanks in Advance

Re: SG, SGeRAC and Oracle 10g2 RAC, lan configuration question!!
The first thing I would ask for is more information.
Oracle 10g2 RAC has its own clustering scheme. Are you using Oracle RAC clustering or SG. Or both.
Strange behavior such as you described has been known to happen when two types of clustering are used.

Yes, I'm using both cluster solution, SGeRAC and RAC. After checking a lot of documentation my question is, how on SGeRAC and RAC enviroment SG can be manage the network failover?
Thanks in Advance

Re: SG, SGeRAC and Oracle 10g2 RAC, lan configuration question!!
But :
- What is your exact version of sericguard, including SG and SGeRAC patches
- What is your exact verion of clusterware, including patchsets, PSU's and individual patches.
I have seen strange/unexpected behaviour in the past, but it was allways fixed by applying the correct set of patches.

Re: SG, SGeRAC and Oracle 10g2 RAC, lan configuration question!!
I think it is normal. If you have standby card, you should add this interface to RAC config with, oifcfg command.
# oifcfg setif -global lanx/IP_address:public
Then VIP will move to standby card...

Re: SG, SGeRAC and Oracle 10g2 RAC, lan configuration question!!
It works perfect, you can unplug one of your nics, and oracle won't even notice.
Take a Look at APA, although you need to buy a lincense but it's not very expensive.
