SGeSAP Idle Standby Cluster

Hi Gurus,

I'm currently setting a simple SAP cluster with SGeSAP on two nodes. I'd like to use so called "Option 2: SGeSAP NFS Idle Standby Cluster" to build cluster.
I want to put on the one package all the components like CI, DB and AS.

First my question - is it really necessary to use HA NFS for directory /sapmnt/?

Second question - is it really necessary to put local executables of SAP on all nodes?

Can I just use SAP default directories layout without any changes?
/sapmnt/
/usr/sap/

Thanks in advance

Re: SGeSAP Idle Standby Cluster

Shalom,

1) It depends on how reliable you want the infrastructure. If you are going for fault tolerance, I'd say yes.

2) Yes. The cluster needs to be able to perform which means the applications need to be on both nodes. You can try putting the binaries on shared storage but that my not be supported.

Re: SGeSAP Idle Standby Cluster

The manual says:
It is a good practice to keep a cluster setup as simple as possible.
I want to use that way.

So let me to rephrase my questions.

I'd like to build simple cluster with one package and there no any application server instances on other nodes.

My questions:
1. Is it possible not to use HA NFS at all?

2. Is it possible to leave SAP executables on shared disk?

Thanks
