CIFS/9000 aka Samba. Should be on your applications CD's. I recommend getting the O'Reily book on Samba if you really want to understand it.

Like craig said, CIFS9000 from HP, which is samba, is the way to go without installing software on the users pc's. As far as the pc is concerned, it thinks the Hp filesystem is an NT filesystem. One thing to be careful of is that currently samba does not handle M$ Active Directory crap, because M$ decided to deviate from the kerberos standard (like they have never done that before).
