Sharing tape drives with Integrity Virtual Machines.

I have an HPUX server connected to a tape library over a fiber channel fabric. I created a few HPVMs on the server and I would like the host and all the VMs to be able to access the library. Access to the library will be controlled via Data Protector.

It seems I can only assign the pass through device to a VM if the hpvmdevmgmt's share=NO. Is there a method to allow the host and all the VMs to see the library at the same time?

Bill,

To share attached devices like tape drives, you must be on HPVM4.1 and have patch PHSS_39784 installed on your VM host. Then see this section of the release notes for instructions on how to set this up:

The easiest way is to use AVIO attached devices supported in the latest patches on HPVM V4.10.
See the latest HPVM release notes.
