shifting packages in clustre servers(urgent)
dear all
I have two servers(HP rp7400) in cluster mode. I have to shift two packages from one node to another. In that two packages databases are running. I have never done these kinds of activity. We are using HP UX B.11.11.
We are using Virtual array. Also I want to know what are the considerations for this e.g. memory utilisation, databases etc. memory utilisation at peak of destination server is 70-80%. and other has 40-60 %
Suggestions are Appreciated.
so please suggest me about this.
Thanks,
Shrikant.

Re: shifting packages in clustre servers(urgent)
Check the man pages for options. This is coming out of my head.
Also I could understnad your questions about mem utilization, databse etc. Please elaborate.

Re: shifting packages in clustre servers(urgent)
You also need to look into some of the kernel parameters like
dbc_max_pct
dbc_min_pct
& also the swap on the system before u switch the package over.

Re: shifting packages in clustre servers(urgent)
how are you in this situation without understanding what and why your are doing it ?
with regards to capacity, this should be taken into equation when building the cluster. Each node should be able to run both packages without causing impact to performance
nice

Re: shifting packages in clustre servers(urgent)
Did you just add the second node? or was it already there?
If the latter, then hopefully, whomever set it up originally knew what they were doing and both servers are identical (patches, hardware, etc).
man cmhaltpkg
man cmrunpkg

Re: shifting packages in clustre servers(urgent)
Steve and Geoff are correct. The questions you are raising should have been tested when the cluster was built.
If that was not done, then you need to plan for that testing. The nodes in a cluster will usually have same patching level and kernel parameters at similar values.
Perhaps, you can give us more details about the reason why you want to shift packages. Then you may get a more precise answer.
With regards,
Mohan.
