Re: Showing wrong serial number in getconf output
then you better verify with the machine TAG (paper or sticker tag on server). It will give you the exact serial number.

i am unable to execute the script that you have given. Please give the exact syntax of the command.
hi ahsan,
i can get the serial number from the physical tag attached to the server.but just i wanted to know the reason for showing the different no's from the mentioned commands.the s/n from print_manifest is maching with that of physical tag.but getconf is showing the wrong s/n.

Re: Showing wrong serial number in getconf output
This is the output of the above command.
System Serial Number...: SG63251935.
But my server actual s/n is : SG63251922.(from print_manifest command and as per the physical tag of server)

Re: Showing wrong serial number in getconf output
First one (SG63251935) is for rp3440 server, the second one (SG63251922) is for rp3410.
What is your model version ? Check it with:
#model
Better way is to log a call at HP and engineer can fix the serial on place if necessary.

ivan

Re: Showing wrong serial number in getconf output
I really recommend you open a HW call to HP requesting an Onsite eng to check it and fixed if necessary, remember that this information is not "hardcoded" there, this information and too many other info is just saved to it, I have seen cases in which one half of the serial is missing.
But in your case ...You could believe the one that is NOT comming from the manifest ...but it's good for you to check this with HP because if in your company will make a HW summary, etc, by checking the data that is printed in the box against the one comming from the server itseft ...probably you will have to run a lot.
Regards,
Marco,
