Which is recommanded method to enter single user mode in HP - unix from INIT 3

Hi,

Go to ISL prompt, boot into single user mode.

ISL>hpux -iS

Interrupt the boot process at the console at the 10 second prompt

hpux -is

You will now boot single user mode.

yes you need to get PDC to go to Single user mode.

Susee,

When going to init 1 it will just stop all apps/services from rc3.d and rc2.d.

You need to reboot the servers as already suggested and interup the boot.

No, you can input "init 1" at your command line when you are in runlevel3 and system will switch to single user mode.

Alireza,

No you can NOT go from init 3 to REAL single user mode directly, you will need to shutdown and BOOT to single user mode.

Yes correct on SUN Solaris it is different.
