Slow telnet response
When connected with my PC to an RP44xx series server I experience slow telnet (and ssh) response, some 80-90 secs.
This is only at login, after that the response appears normal.
Note that this does not occur when the same NIC is connected to the LAN.
Only when I pull the LAN cable and connect my, or any, PC to the NIC, the slow login response appears.
Browsing the forum I learn this might be a DNS related issue.
Any suggestions?
This server has 2 NICs, the other (NIC2) is disabled.

Re: Slow telnet response
So you're unplugging the server from the network and connecting it to your PC?
If so, then that is almost assuredly a DNS issue, as the DNS server will no longer be reachable from the server. If you re-name resolv.conf I believe it will default to just look at /etc/hosts and not wait for DNS to timeout. Otherwise, edit the file and put files in front of dns/nis.
