smb upgrade
Hello,
I've upgraded my version of cifs server to 02.02.01 from 02.01.02 on a 11iv1 system. This translates to upgrading samba from 3.0.7 to 3.0.14a (according to smbstatus).
however, now we can't browse to the server... I am getting the following messages in the log file for my windows machine:
[2006/06/14 15:21:38, 0] auth/auth_domain.c:domain_client_validate(195)
domain_client_validate: unable to validate password for user tom in domain BAI
LEY to Domain controller \\DC-LIVE-IT021. Error was NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER.
Here is my globals section:
[global]
domain logons = no
realm =
wins support = no
security = domain
password server = dc-live-it021, *
workgroup = BAILEY
netbios name = ngb4000l
server string = Samba Server
invalid users = root bin daemon adm sync shutdown halt mail news uucp op
erator
syslog = 0
log file = /var/opt/samba/log.%m
max log size = 1000
preferred master = auto
local master = yes
domain master = auto
wins server = 94.240.128.155
encrypt passwords = yes
username map = /etc/opt/samba/usermap.txt
veto files = /lost+found/*.mp3*/*.exe*/*.msi*/*.wav*/
delete veto files = No
hide dot files = Yes
It doesnt seem to be reading the usermap.
can anyone throw any light on this??

Re: smb upgrade
Did you re-join the domain?

Re: smb upgrade
Shalom,
if the smb.conf file did not change then I agree with that net join needs to be done.
/sbin/init.d/samba stop
/sbin/init.d/samba start
net join requires a password for the primary domain controller.
There may be additional helpful information in /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log or the log file defined in the smb.conf file, usually /etc/opt/samba/smb.conf
