SNAplus2 Installation problem using SAM
Hi all,
I installed the following products onto my server (HPUX 11.11):
J2720BA R6.11.11.001 SNAplus2 LINK
J2721BA R6.11.11.001 SNAplus2 APPN End Node
J2722BA R6.11.11.001 SNAplus2 3270/3179G
J2723BA R6.11.11.001 SNAplus2 RJE
J2724BA R6.11.11.001 SNAplus2 API
And run snapplus2 after that..
# /sbin/init.d/snaplus2 start
Creating /dev/sna_v5access
Creating /dev/sna_NDG
Creating /dev/sna_NMA
Creating /dev/sna_QLLC
Creating /dev/sna_SDLC
Skipping SNAplus2 daemon start because the SNAplus2 Environment
is not yet configured in the kernel. You must run SAM to install
the SNAplus2 Environment in the kernel.
When I went to SAM, I can't see "SNAplus2 Installation" menu under Networking and Communications menu.
What did I miss? Anyone experience with this such problem?
Best Regards,
Bambang

Re: SNAplus2 Installation problem using SAM
Hi,
I believe what you and SNA are looking for is the SNA drivers(not kernal configurable parameters). For example: sixd, sixm, sixr, sixd. Make sure those are in the kernal and you should be in business. Requires a reboot of course. Also in my situation within SNA I am configured as standalone for my connection to the mainframe.
You can play with the SNA configs outside of xsnapadmin: /etc/opt/sna/sna_node.cfg(base config) and /etc/opt/sna/sna_domn.cfg(connections config). Track errors in /var/opt/sna/sna.err and sna.aud. If you mess with the config files, just stop and restart sna daemons(snap stopt snap start).
One of the biggest dynamics is understanding SNA does not talk IP which can confuse you a little(Setups are based on ports on NIC/MAC addresses).

Re: SNAplus2 Installation problem using SAM
Hy, all:
I have a similar problem, I installed a product??s SNA??plus for 11.00, then when ran the SAM to "ADD SNA component how Standalone" the SAM generate a error reporting problems like "SAM generate a error", after that when i try to exit SAM, it want to create a Kernel if i check the changes i can see that sam created only the sixd driver.
What is happening??
Regards
GV

Re: SNAplus2 Installation problem using SAM
Hi,
Please check under /opt/sna/sam Check that following files exist:SNA_SAM.sl, sna.da, and sna.tm
If they are missing, the only way to make it work is to swremove and swinstall the sna software.
Also check you have the latest 11.11 cumulative SAM/ObAM patch installed.
Br,
Johan
