snmpd problem

Hi all, when I??m trying to activate the snmp daemon I??m getting this logs in the /var/adm/snmpd.log

AgentSocketCreate: bind
at line 482 in file ../tcp.c
InitMaster: IPCFP[0].AgentSocketCreate failed
at line 1381 in file ../master.c
master agent initialization failed, exiting
at line 835 in file ../mastmain.c

any suggestion??

See what's going on with the SMNPD port in /etc/services. Use 'lsof -i SNMP:##'. Is something else contending with the port? NNM for example?

Try port 161.

Also try telneting into the port:

telnet ip port
Connected?

Hi Juan,

Check the /etc/snmpd.conf file for correct syntax.

Did you make any changes to it recently? You may have a tab or space where none are meant to be.
