snmpdm and AgentX
I'm trying to use a third-party agent (by way of Intersystems Cache) to monitor a database by SNMP, but I don't seem to be able to get the agent to connect to snmpdm.
I thought HPUX supported AgentX now. snmpdm doesn't open port 705, but does open port 7161; so I used that as the destination port for the AgentX-compliant SNMP subagent. I understand HP used to use EMANATE to run subagents.
Trying to access the tree using snmpwalk on a Linux box returns "No Such Object available [...]"
Looking at the snmpdm agent logs, I see ongoing periodic errors like these:
Had to guess at event length - first event had type ######
(number varies - 67, 939524096, 1275068416)
The Intersystems SNMP agent log shows these errors (continually):
01/08/2009 3:46 PM - No response to OPEN message

Re: snmpdm and AgentX
Does HP's SNMP server recognize AgentX connections or not? I see references to EMANATE in the binaries (I forget where) during operation, but not AgentX.
Do I have to install something else to support AgentX?
