Somany fork processes
In my HPUX 11.00 800/9000 L2000 server, It is generating somany fork processes ( at a rate of 20 to 400 and more )in the 5 sec interval when i watch through glance. In another server (L1000) it generates very less ( 5 - 20 ).
Why it happens in former one?

Re: Somany fork processes
Try to track what is causing those fork processes to occur. For this do a
#ps -ef |grep fork
and then look at the PPID (parent process) which is spawning the fork process. Once you get the Parent, find out what userid is running it. From there, you can have an idea on whether it is a valid process, or a bad user program etc.
