Some info reqd about Downloads....

Hi,

I am running HP-UX 11.00 on Hardware model- 9000/800/R380 server.I want to upgrade it to HP-UX 11.i. I have come to know that if there is a license copy of HP-UX 11.00 then I can download HP-UX 11.i for free.but I don't know
from where I can download it, so can someone help me out with exact procedure?

second question is: If I have got an old ANSI C
&C++ compiler(licens ecopy)then is it possible to download the latest version free of cost.if yes then kindly let me know how can
I do this??
This is a bit urgent.if someone can help me it would be really a great help.

Thanks&Regards

Qamar

Re: Some info reqd about Downloads....

As far as I am aware, all the software comes on CD media and it cannot be downloaded from anywhere by normal humans. I would have to think that HP personnel have a place to get it from or can get it at the local HP office. Our local office has a stash of CD's that fills a wall.

Some of the media is code word protected and you have to call to get the code word emailed to you. Emailing is a good thing since some of these keys can be long.

Re: Some info reqd about Downloads....

The answer is NO! HP/ANSI C is one of the many pay for products that you have to purchase with each release, and one license for each system that will be using the compiler!

Same rules apply to any good compiler, Sun's Forte, Bordland Delphi, C/C++, MS VisualBasiCrap, MS VisualCrap, etc...

Personally, I use GNU C quite often more than HP's C, because the same types of code will compile on HP-UX, SunOS, etc... (as long as the make files configure the headers correctly that is! )

I do buy 1 HP Ansi/C for each site though, because the code optomization is awsome!

You CANNOT download 11i. You must request the CDs from HP. If your existing HP server is on HP support then you can request the CD's online at the ITRC.
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...
