ssh not prompting for passwd

after getting the ssh console it asking for username. after entering the username is getting stuck. not able to login root, normal user, passwd file permission rrr.

Can you provide output of ssh -V from the system you're SSH'ing to.

Which ssh software are you using to connect?

but some other problem is also there is not also allowing to install new patches.

can you tell me whitch config file can restrict a root to do admin task.

i check /var/adm/inet.sec
comapre all /etc/*.conf file with a working system
compare ssh-server. client, pam.conf,nsswitch.conf, inetd.conf


please suggest any solution
