ssrfc kernel driver ?

We are moving to HP-UX 11.23.

I noticed a kernel driver that I haven't seen before: "ssrfc".

What is it? Do I need it?

Re: ssrfc kernel driver ?

Hi Stuart,

ssrfc is a driver module for the magneto-optical autochanger surface devices which use the schgr or autox0 drivers - specifically the module which allows access to the surfaces of the optical disks.

See the following URL:

http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-60105/autochanger.7.html

So unless you have these devices you won't need it.

HTH,
Jeff

Jeff:

How did you find that?

I searched the HP web site and didn't find anything...

Re: ssrfc kernel driver ?

Hi,

Went to docs.hp.com & simply searched for "ssrfc".
It brought up quite a few pages for a lot of diff OS versions - all pointing to "Autochanger". The link I sent you was for 11.23.
Docs searches on docs.hp.com are by far the best I've found in hp.com. You can even get a LOT of HW manual links out of it. I think most people think it's only good for SW/OS searches - of which I never search software.hp.com for - it's probably the worst search engine HP has.

Rgds,
Jeff
