Re: /stand recovery from HP-UX (rp2470)

Are simply having an issue booting from the kernel and want to get the server booted?

You may be able to boot off a previous copy of your kernel.

The automatic backup kernel is located at /stand/backup/vmunix.

The following is an example of booting the backup kernel configuration on a PA-RISC server.

1. Interrupt the boot when asked when the server is starting up.

2. bo pri

3. It will ask do you want to interact with the ISL...say yes "y".

Then at the ISL prompt give the path to your backup kernel...some locations I've seen are...

ISL> hpux (;0)/stand/backup/vmunix
ISL> hpux (;0)/stand/vmunix.old
ISL> hpux (;0)/stand/vmunix.prev

If you saved your kernel elsewhere then give the path to where you placed it. As long as it's on a mount point available in single user mode.
The Devil is in the detail.
