Hi - just trying to get my hands around the custom patch bundles (I probably should know the answer to this, but I don't). Is the only real advantage to the custom patch bundle vs. the gold pack this size of the download? The reason I ask is that if I choose the gold pack I only install what the system needs anyway right?
Help me out here....

SolutionThe real advantage behind a custom patch bundle is that it is tailored specifically to your environment.
Like we have HP provide custom patch bundles based on certain requirements - course you need to be on contract with them.

Re: standard vs. custom patch bundles
Is the gold bundle the new QPK? I.e., does it contain everything I need?
thanks,

Re: standard vs. custom patch bundles
Actually I find it confusing - they've got "standard bundles", they've got "support plus", and they've got "quality packs":
http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/releaseIndexPage.do?admit=-682735245+1131546222985+28353475&BC=patch.breadcrumb.main%7Cpatch.breadcrumb.bundle%7C
However, if you look at the Quality Pack page, it says " HP-UX Quality Packs include all stable defect-fix patches for HP-UX 10.20 (B.10.20), HP-UX 11.0 (B.11.00), HP-UX 11i Version 1 (B.11.11) and HP-UX 11i Version 2 (B.11.23) core, graphics and networking drivers. HP-UX 11i Version 1 and HP-UX 11i Version 2 Quality Packs also contain defect-fix patches for all applications in the HP-UX Operating Environments (OEs). HP thoroughly tests each Quality Pack and requires that it pass the same tests as would a new HP-UX operating system release."

Re: standard vs. custom patch bundles
OK - so I've got a box running 11i, it's got the gold pack base patch bundle on it. It's time to patch it...if you were me, what would you load?
QPK and support plus, just QPK, a custom patch bundle, ....?
