Statistics for April 2003

I've decided to stop statistics. It just takes too much time. Hope you enjoyed it.

Re: Statistics for April 2003

Merijn,

After hearing this, I was disappointed.
People have really come to enjoy the statistics you provided us.
Really, some people do place a little too much emphasis on them.
I like reading them, but I guess I could live without them.
Life is really more than just numbers.

Forum members should concentrate more on helping people anyway.
One of the biggest satisfactions I get here is hearing that I helped somebody.
Of course, the points make it fun too, but they aren't everything.
Likely you will hear from lots of people who will miss all the numbers.
Statistics have been fun, but at first look it says something about character.

Re: Statistics for April 2003

John, beautiful. It just doesn't stand out if the lines are wrapped like in my windows (using both Opera and Mozilla, I can see it, but not as in an acrostichon)

Mike, "Mike" is not written as "Tymic" is it? :)

Enjoy, have FUN! H.Merijn [ and fun I have. Only all point asigns time out :( ]

Re: Statistics for April 2003

Merijn,

That was too easy. We all know you're every bit as addicted to producing the statistics as we are to studying them!

Enjoy, have FUN!

Re: Statistics for April 2003

It /could/ be true however. It /does/ take a lot of time.

Perl answers are easier.

Re: Statistics for April 2003

I was just talking to Palo Alto and the buzz over there is that LVM and PA-RISC aren???t leaving in lieu of the new Itanium architecture and VXVM.

That???s right!

There's been a re-evaluation of the whole PA-RISC phase out for apparently there are numerous instabilities listed inside the Intel CPU, VXVM and Itanium architecture in general that can???t be found inside PA-RISC servers. Several of the leads were actually overheard to have said something like: ??????so that???s why they call it windoze??????.

Consequently, decades of HP proprietary work aren???t being phased out in a year or two after all.

No offense, but I think John Poff is an April fool victim.

If you're serious procura, how about some perl code, I'll step up.

Re: Statistics for April 2003

Merijn,

How about statistics about how much time does it take you to produce statistics? Does it take more and more effort all the time as you have more and more points to sumarize? How fast does it change comparing to the forum's activity?

This would make your declaration more trustable... ;)

Good luck

Re: Statistics for April 2003

Now that I `trust' the data, and all that are interrested know about the glitches and know how to read the stats, it's about 20 minutes a week:

?? putting the stats in the forum (Pete knows how long that can take :-P)
?? putting the stats on http://www.cmve.net/~merijn and https://www.beepz.com/personal/merijn
?? interpreting the log from cron
?? posting the personal metrics in congrat threads
?? `playing'
?? looking into the possible implementation of quests (I think I am at the edge of what is possible with the data I am currently able to retreive given bandwidth and ITRC speed)

That is now that it is all automated and running smooth. The development took sometimes far to much time. (Developing the speed graph falls in the 'playing' category)

Re: Statistics for April 2003

Hi Merijn,

not because it is April Fool's Day.

Unless you have another opinion I'd like to start your statistic thread for you.
So you get your well deserved bunnies for your excellent programming and you have no work with chats.

ok?

Volkmar, nice offer, but not neccesary. I'm not a point hunter, and I rather get some points for perl one lines that solve problems than for congrats and fun stuff (OK, perl one liners are fun too :)

just keep enjoying, and I'll be happy just to fulfill your needs!

Hey Guys,

I totally agree with Volkmor, I strongly belive that Procura is very well deserved to gain points for the great efforts. Don't ya agree with me guys. So we need to nominate someone to start the
thread. I would go for Pete Randell, as he keeps and eye on such thread. Besides, his experience.
What do you think Pete.
