stm logs
within 2 months I've had two calls to HP for service first replacing a failed mirror disk and then the primary, only to find out the backplane was the problem and PDC firmware was updated. Everything appeared ok but a raw.log was generated at the very start of the backups last nite. This leads me to believe that maybe there is a problem with the DLT 8/8 connected on that system. The logs shows 194 I/O error entries and the device paths for those entries are 0/6/0/0.5.0 (dlt) and 0/0/1/1.2.0 (primary disk). Any clues?

Re: stm logs
What class of server and what OS (10.20, 11.00, or 11i) are you running? One of the first things to do, is to make sure you have the latest patch bundle installed, plus any new patches related to IO.
The second thing is to make sure that your devices are still properly terminated.

Re: stm logs
L-class 1000 11/64.
I have been installing the recommended HP ITRC security digest patches and other relevant patches. Good point the last bundle does date back. I should maybe install at the dec. 2000 bundle!

Re: stm logs
it hard to answer by this information , better
check formatted log for detail and run exercise or verify on that hardware path.
for dlt I/O error can also be problem with media / have to clean drive or it occurs on same scsi path , can be scsi cable or terminator problem.
