Strange EMS alert
I have an old HPUX 11.00 server, which keeps generating events in syslog (all the same) such as:
May 9 08:22:13 hx000010 syslog: CRITICAL Event Code=199; Description=Lost connection to host.; Unknown FRU Location; Hardware Address=0/8/0/0.1.1.0.0.0.0; Unknown Vendor ID; Unknown Model ID; Unknown Product S/N; Latest information on this event at http://docs.hp.com/hpux/content/hardware/ems/RemoteMonitor.htm#199
I have even disabled EMS (via /sbin/init.d/diagnostic stop), but they keep on coming... question is, what is generating these alerts ?
They make no sense when you look at an ioscan:
ctl 39 0/3/0/0.10.1.255.0.0.0 sctl CLAIMED DEVICE HP HSV100
/dev/rscsi/c14t0d0
ba 5 0/4 lba CLAIMED BUS_NEXUS Local PCI Bus Adapter (782)
ba 6 0/5 lba CLAIMED BUS_NEXUS Local PCI Bus Adapter (782)
ba 7 0/8 lba CLAIMED BUS_NEXUS Local PCI Bus Adapter (782)
ba 8 0/9 lba CLAIMED BUS_NEXUS Local PCI Bus Adapter (782)
fc 1 0/9/0/0 td CLAIMED INTERFACE HP Tachyon XL2 Fibre Channel Mass Storage Adapter
/dev/td1
fcp 3 0/9/0/0.20 fcp CLAIMED INTERFACE FCP Domain
There is nothing at that path...
How can I supress these alerts as they keep triggering SNMP traps causing loads of false alerts?

Re: Strange EMS alert
Shalom,
You got the famous LUN0 is not assigned so the disk array is detected instead error.
If LUN0 is not presented to your machine, HP-UX often detects the disk array as LUN0. It is not a disk so it blows up EMS and SNMP traps left and right.
There is no software fix. Have the SAN admin present a LUN as LUN0 to the machine and it will stop happening.

Re: Strange EMS alert
This host is connected to an EVA3000, but when I go into the EVA, I only have the options to present luns 7 or above.. (I have luns 1-6 already) but no option to present as lun 0... Am I missing something silly here?

Re: Strange EMS alert
This is probably and old device that was added to the monitoring when it existed.
I think you need to look into
/etc/opt/resmon/lbin/monconfig
This might help
