strange FTP issue - Name resolution

I have FTP issue which i have found is due to name resolution. I find that when i do nslookup it does not get past files to lookup although i have files dns in the nsswitch.conf.what should i do to get this fixed?

Shalom Jim,

1) Make sure your /etc/resolv.conf file is pointing to a valid DNS server.
2) See that /etc/nsswtich.conf looks like this on the hosts entry.

hosts: files [NOTFOUND=continue UNAVAIL=continue] dns [NOTFOUND=return UNAVAIL=return]
