Re: STunnel on hpux

Hi Shiv,

The HP-UX Apache-based Web Server bundle includes the Stunnel tool in binary form. This Stunnel tool can be used as an SSL encryption wrapper between a remote client and local or remote server. Within the HP-UX Apache-based Web Server, Stunnel can provide secure SSL queries between Apache and an LDAP server for secure LDAP authentication. Stunnel is built using the version 4.04 source, provided by the Stunnel community.

Check this link for details:

http://www.hp.com/products1/unix/webservers/apache/downloads/stunneltool.html

You can download the Stunnel tool here:

Cheers,
Raj.

Re: STunnel on hpux

Shiv, Stunnel was part of Internet Express in previous releases and its not available with that right now. If you have HP-UX Applications DVD, you can see Internet Express Stunnel (IxStunnel).Otherwise, its now part of Apache webserver suite. You can download from www.hp.com/go/webserver

Re: STunnel on hpux

Does it mean that STunnel is used only with Apache web server ?

Re: STunnel on hpux

Not really, you can use it any application for tunneling. We tested with FTP/telnet/MySQL, etc..etc...

Re: STunnel on hpux

Hi Shiva,
Stunnel is based on SSL libraries, it tunnels [encrypt] the basic TCP connection between two source points. It comes handy, when services like pop3, impad send datas in clear text, you can wrap them using stunnel.

Have a look at this link, to find the stunnel configuration to wrap services
