Hello,
I was wondering if anyone here might have some input on the following:
When we log in directly into our system, the user ID has access to more groups than if we log in using the su (set user) command (example: "su - userid"). It seems as though the /etc/group file is not being read in with su. I was under the assumption that if you use the - (dash) option, su should be identical to logging in directly. Is this not correct?
We are currently on HP-UX 11.0. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Re: su command and group access
"su -" just changes the users environment to what would be expected if you had originally logged in.
They should have the same groups no matter what.
