SolutionI didn't see anything like that with this patch. There is a list of patches that this patch supersedes, but that is all I saw.
You could check with the Response Center and see if they have a newer ANSI/C patch, but I suspect that this one is the most current at this point in time.

Re: Superceded patch
Patch PHSS_17545 for 10.20 does not appear to be superseded according to its patch text.

Re: Superceded patch
http://us-support.external.hp.com/wpsl/bin/doc.pl/screen=wpslDisplayPatch/sid=4a98765e06932f15af?PATCH_PATH=/hp-ux_patches/s700_800/10.X/PHSS_17545&HW=s800&OS=10.20
And I see no mention that this patch has been superseded.

Re: Superceded patch
I think what you are referring to is the "Status: General Superseded" line near the top of the patch text. If so, I read this as simply saying that this patch (PHSS_17507) supersedes several others.
You will note that this patch (PHSS_17507) requires PHSS_8555, but that patch, if you drill into it, has been superseded by PHSS_21110. If you look at the patch text for PHSS_8555 you will clearly see this information pointing you to PHSS_21110.
That is, superseded patches' descriptions will begin with:
"NOTE This patch has been superseded. Patch PHxx_nnnn has been replaced by..."
Does this help?

PHSS_17507 Patch Description
Note: Obtaining software or data from HP's Patch Database is governed by the IT Resource Center Terms of Use. Use of software or data obtained from HP's Patch Database is governed by HP Software License
Terms. Please read them before you proceed.
NOTE This patch has been superseded.
The download button appears right here. At any rate it seems confusing to me as I've never seen this message here. I agree further down in the document text for this patch it mentions what patches this patch supercedes and any dependencies are also listed there. I suppose I won't worry about it anymore. Thanks.

Re: Superceded patch
I just went and had a look at that patch. I see what you mean. Apparently this patch has been superseded.
Apparently the behaviour of the 'Retrieve a Specific Patch' function has changed. I searched for the predecessor to 17507 and it brought that patch description up with the NOTE that it had been superseded. This is not good behaviour for the patch search.
ANYONE FROM HP HERE - CAN Y'ALL LOOK AT THIS?!?!?!

Re: Superceded patch
OK, now I see what you do. I agree that this IS odd. I suspect perhaps there is a superseding patch but it's been recalled.
