I am new to HP superdomes. I am aware that there are hard partitions and soft partitions in superdome and that you can check partition status using command parstatus. My question is that when I use parstatus it shows me all the details of the configured partitions and hostnames for each partition but I guess there are some soft partitions or whatever ( If I login to this particular server name still I am not able to see this server name in the parstatus list of partitions and the partition number of this server is same as that of one of the partitions whose server name is different) for which the hostname/server name do not appear in the parstatus list. Please anyone tell me how to check which are the actual partitions and which are soft partitions to determine the resources available for each server.
Thnx,
Nad

SolutionI would recommend you take a read of the mauals at:
nPars
http://docs.hp.com/en/hplex.html#B.%20nPartitions%20%28hardware-based%20partitioning%29
vPars
http://docs.hp.com/en/oshpux11i.html
This may not only help explain the differences, but also show you how to do what you are asking

Re: Superdome unable to understand partitions
The "Parstatus" command will show you the information only about the hardpartitions (npar). Whereas to see the information about the soft partitions (vpar) in the current hard partition (npar), you can use "vparstatus" command.
# parstatus
it'll show the inf. about all npartition in the server complex
# vparstatus
it'll show the inf. about all the vpartition in the current npartition.

Re: Superdome unable to understand partitions
Saravanan I will shortly give you your points just after checking the command once.
Thanks a lot.

Re: Superdome unable to understand partitions
The attachment sometimes guides me and i
think this must be located in your doc library.
