Surestore Dat 24 on hp-ux v11.11

Dear Guys,
i had a problem today as i installed hp-ux version 11.11 on machine rp5430 - i know it is an old machine but it is the only available for me :)-
and i added tape drive ( surestore dat 24 )
but when i needed to make backup i couldn't see the tape drive although i tried as i saw here before
# sam >>kernel configuratio >> drivers
then i typed
#ioscan >> insf -e >> ioscan -funC tape

but i didn't see any o/p.
Can any one suggest me good solution or advice to see this tape although i was seeing it on the same machine when there was hp-ux version 11.23
but now no thing is being appeared ? forgive me but really i'm still new t hp-ux .

Re: Surestore Dat 24 on hp-ux v11.11

thanks for care ,
i'm with you and sure i started by revising the output of this command
but now i noticed something and have imagination for the problem
this is what i noticed

one of entries from the output of #ioscan -fn is like this

# ioscan | grep unknown
0/0/2/1.0.0 unknown HP C1537A

and i feel that the problem is that system doesn't have the driver of this tape drive or am i wrong ??? :(

by the way this is the full output of #ioscan -fn

#
# ioscan -fn

Re: Surestore Dat 24 on hp-ux v11.11

Your tape is here:

unknown -1 0/0/2/1.0.0 UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN HP C1537A

You don't have the driver included.

Use SAM and add the "stape" kernel driver, reboot and you will see it.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Surestore Dat 24 on hp-ux v11.11

There is no other installable driver - just the kernel driver module. You need to include the module into the kernel, generate a new kernel and boot from. SAM does all the needed steps for you.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Surestore Dat 24 on hp-ux v11.11

this is very good
but if i have problem in setting of my screen so that SAM can't be shown properly -and i faced this yesterday -

so there is no other way using command line to load module into the current kernel ?
i think this is very strange ? or what ?

i mean is there is nothing like #modeprobe in linux or also #insmod

but any way thanks for your attention
